The Long Island Maritime Museum is committed to the research, preservation and interpretation of our region’s rich nautical heritage and the role of Long Island in our national maritime story. Whether it’s boat building, shipwrecks, shellfish harvesting or recreational boating that captures your imagination, it’s all here under our roofs, in our galleries and at our many events and programs. We are doing all we can to be sure the Museum will remain open for all to enjoy. Like so many other organizations, we have been greatly affected by the COVID Pandemic. Our largest 2020 & 2021 fundraising events, The Seafood Festival & Trustee Recognition Dinner, were cancelled. In our continuing effort to bring history to life, we
have begun the digitization of the Museum's media archives. As you will see, some of the content contains only video - leaving sound to the imagination. Some are professional documentaries and interviews; others amateur recordings made with the intent to preserve activities that were once a way of life.
