Our Art from the Wreckage Exhibit and Auction was an overwhelming success. So, in this season of thanksgiving, we at
the Long Island Maritime Museum would like to express our gratitude to all who made it so.
It was hard to believe that the damage wrought by Hurricane Isaias would prove to be the mixed blessing that provided
us with the raw material for this exhibit. What started out as an off the wall (or rather, roof) idea grew into an entertaining
challenge for all involved. We are thankful for the versatile and talented artists who joined in the spirit of fun, creating
and donating so many unique pieces of shingle art:
Julia Aaron, Tove Hasselriis Abrams, Rose Ann Albanese, Leila Atkinson, Jody Banaszak, Brandi Bass, Victoria Beckert, Sheri Berman, Pauline Bishop (who also photographed the art for the online exhibit), Leah Blackwood, Ken Blitman, Doug Broadhurst, Anita Cafferty, Marie Camenares, Carol Corbett, Jerry Corbett, Lisa DiStefano, Valerie Farrugia, Elizabeth Fusco, Helen Giaquinto, Gabriella Grama, Leana Grotz, Regina Halliday, Maryann Hamilton, Ruth Johnson, Libby Hintz, Julianna Kirk, Genny Lambert, Ann Legere, Liz Macchio, Suzanne McKeon, Ryan Metz, Sue Miller, Katie Mulvihill, Mary O'Connor, Dee O'Shea, Jeanne Salucci, Katie Saville, Laurie Samara Schlageter, Joan Sicignano, Elisabeth Southorn, Laurie Burke Spelman, Susan Sterber, Joan Tavolott, Zoe Vock, Kathy Wayman, Ashley White, Dave White, Nancy White and Mary Ellen Winter.
And finally, we’d like to express our gratitude to all those who participated in the auction. We appreciate
your support and hope you enjoy your shingle art.
