Our Art for the Restoration Exhibit and Auction is a fundraiser for the restoration of Priscilla, the Museum's beloved 1888 oyster sloop and National Historic Landmark. Each winter, Priscilla is lovingly maintained by her crew and shipwrights, receiving fresh
paint and light repair work. Every 20 years, she requires a more extensive restoration. Beginning in October of 2024, work began to replace her deck and mast, and to refasten her hull - all required to maintain her Coast Guard certification. It's been a
significant cost and undertaking. In addition to grants and private donations, this art fundraiser will offset restoration costs and ensure that Priscilla continues to be available for the public to enjoy. So once again, we have called upon our creative community to
take on a new challenge - this time by creating art from slices of the old mast. Each piece is a tribute to
Priscilla's life and history in our community.
Come explore this beautiful maritime-themed exhibit and auction and make a purchase or place a bid on a one-of-a-kind piece now on display in the Museum's gallery. With over 100 pieces to choose from, there's sure to be something for everyone! Bids and purchases can be made in person or by calling 631-854-4974 or 631- HISTORY (631- 447- 8679) now through Saturday, November 29th.
And in this season of thanksgiving, we at the
Long Island Maritime Museum would like to express our gratitude to
the versatile and talented artists who joined in the spirit of fun, creating
and donating so many unique pieces of mast art:
Rose Ann Albanese, Diana Aliberti, Tina Anthony, Sue Arink, Patricia Ballan, Victoria Beckert, Mireille Belajonas, Kelly Bernius, Ken Blitman, Joanne Buck, Heather Buggee, Laurie Burke-Spelman, Celicia Cargill, Anna Chan, Pauline Chiarelli, Hannah Conti, Carol Corbett, Bernice Corbin, Beth Costello, Teresa Cromwell, Patrick Cusack, Linda Davison Mathues, Ellie Fitzpatrick, Barbara Fitzpatrick, Joan Fusco, Casey Greene, Sheryl Gucciardo, Tove Hasselriis Abrams, Leslie Hoffman, Etsu Kahata, Luke Kaufman, Diane Keil, Melissa Klos, Matt Lombardo, Isla LoPresti, Liz Macchio, Christine MacDonagh, Tracy Mahler, Suzanne McKeon, Wendy McLaughlin, Kathy Messina, Stella Michaels, Sue Miller, Karen Miller O'Keefe, Linda Nuccio, Mark Nuccio, Mary O'Connor, Bernadette Puleo, Jeanne Salucci, Laurie Samara-Schlageter, Joanne Scotto-Lavino, Katherine Sheldon, April Sprigman, Joan Tavolott, Diane Van Velsor, David White, Elaine Whitehouse, Ellen Winter, Kathleen Young, Michael Zampella, Annette Zbodula
