True Colors Art Show

...Celebrating Long Island Artists

WELCOME ALL ARTISTS & COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Museum was proud to celebrate the fine arts of Long Island artists each year at our annual True Colors Art Show. The art show was conceived six years ago with two goals: to promote the arts inspired by Long Island's history & environment and to showcase the works of Long Island's artists.

The 2007 True Colors Art Show was held on Saturday, June 9th
(raindate June 10th) from 10 am to 4 pm. The show was open to Long Island artists whose paintings or photography show the Island's waterfronts, bays, lakes, marshlands, boats and waterfowl. Artist's work will be judged and awards given.

Past exhibitions have included the works of sculptor/painter James Pritchard, photographer Bill Kinney, Islip photographer Sandra Sievers, the Long Island

Model Ship Society, sculptor David Haussler, carver Jamie Reason, photographer Dan Goodrich, graphic artist Carol Eisenberg, artist Joseph Reboli
and many more.

The Name: In the 18th century, sailing under false, or enemy colors was an accepted ruse de guerre. Rules of civilized conflict, however, dictated that one's national ensign, or true colors, were always shown before the battle was engaged. L.I. Maritime Museum is proud to be hoisting our true colors once again this year. Our island has long held the reputation as one of the nation's great art communities.

With TRUE COLORS, the
Museum celebrates the fine arts
of Long Island.
