The Museum’s boat basin bustles with activity all year. Be it the launch of our latest boat building project, a concert on the dock or the comings and goings of our Museum fleet, there’s always something happening. Presently, the 1888 oyster sloop, Priscilla is proudly moored along the bulkheading. In the past, moored in the basin were some of the Museum’s floating collection. Modesty, our 1920 oyster dredge; Charlotte, our 19th century tugboat; and Vixen, our 1930 clamboat are always joined by a variety of visiting classic boats or boats moored for the afternoon while their crew takes in the Museum. Charlotte and Modesty are often gone, sailing to points around Long Island, representing the Museum and our history to new audiences!.

Clockwise from upper left: Priscilla docked along the bulkheading, Spindrift perform aboard Modesty, over two hundred acres of pristine wetlands to the west of the Museum, overlooking the Great South Bay.
